Confirmation Sunday

Join us Sunday, May 20th to help welcome and receive our 2012 Confirmation Class into membership.

After two years of study, service and fellowship our Confirmands will join First Church at our 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Celebrate Rev. James Preston

You’re invited to celebrate Rev. James Preston excellent ministry as he steps down as District Superintendent of the Northern Illinois Conference. Join us Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. for a worship celebration and reception for James. Please RSVP online by May 25th. Click here to register.

Volunteer Locally

On Friday, May 18th we will be making and serving lunches for the Evanston Friday Lunch Program. Volunteers are needed from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Additional dates to serve will be June 1, July 6 and August 3. Contact Jane Cheema to volunteer jane@faithatfirst.com.

Pennies for Poverty

First Church has been collecting loose change in our weekly offering for the alleviation of  poverty.  We have collected  over 1.4 million pennies.  Our first million pennies went to the M0-Dega Agricultural Project in Ghana.  Now we are collecting pennies for local projects like Connections for the Homeless, the Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association, the Youth Job Center of Evanston,  Youth Umbrella Organization and The Night Ministry of Chicago.

New To First Church?

If you’re getting ready to visit us for the first time, here’s some useful information:

Parking is free on Sundays at the self-park garage just across the street from the First Church at the corner of Church Street and Chicago Avenues.  There is also free parking at any Northwestern University parking lot on evenings and weekends.
